The Langert Law Firm primarily works in three areas of the law:
First, we have extensive experience in commercial real estate transactions. We have negotiated hundreds of retail, office, and industrial leases throughout the United States, and we actively work with many restaurants, retailers, and office tenants in their expansion and relocation efforts. Mr. Langert has participated in seminars and conferences where he has instructed hundreds of commercial real estate brokers and investors on leasing and other commercial real estate topics. He has taken a shopping center through entitlements and leased it up for the owner (tenants included Starbuck's, Chipotle, and Popeye's), and has been involved in many investment and syndication deals. He has also appeared before environmental boards to represent contaminated properties. As an experienced commercial real estate broker, he often also helps his clients locate the right spots for their retail locations and offices, and handles both the business and legal aspects of the transactions.
Our second area of practice involves representing small to mid-sized businesses in non-litigation matters. Since Mr. Langert has owned a restaurant and a fine art gallery himself, he is well familiar with the challenges that face small to mid-sized businesses, and has faced many of those challenges himself. He assists businesses with entity formation and compliance, drawing up agreements between partners and other co-entity owners, drafting and reviewing contracts and employee manuals, resolving internal and external disputes, working on operational matters, helping with purchases and sales of businesses, and just about anything else that a business could encounter that does not involve litigation. When litigation is required, he has several exceptional litigators that he refers his clients to.
Lastly, we work closely with musicians, bands, record labels, and visual artists/visual art companies. Mr. Langert's wife, Sue, is a talented and accomplished painter, and the Langerts owned a fine art and publishing company for more than eleven years. Mr. Langert oversaw the business and legal aspects of the company, and drafted and negotiated all agreements pertaining to the company's activities. As a very accomplished singer and keyboard player himself, Mr. Langert has worked with musicians, club owners and other venue managers, talent agencies, and other music-related people and entities for many years. One of his former bandmates and one of his closest friends started an independent record label that has multiple bands that have received national acclaim and significant national airplay. Mr. Langert does extensive work with the record label and with its bands, and he understands the music industry on both local and national levels.
